SONG: Let's Go Crazy by Prince and the Revolution | ARTIST: Eight Hour Day

Eight Hour Day — Everyone in Minneapolis has their Prince story. Mine happened in college. My college job was working in catering and one of our events was to cater the Patti LaBelle concert at the Orpheum downtown. Prince showed up seemingly unannounced, yet no-one questioned it. I towered above him even though the man was wearing four inch heeled boots. He hung out backstage and even joined Patti and her band on stage for a couple songs—which was truly amazing. He walked past me too many times to count that night and I distinctly remember him having such an electric presence—like wherever he was at any given moment, that was where he was meant to be. Goddammit that dude was cool. He will be missed.

Dearly beloved
We are gathered here today
To get through this thing called "life"
Electric word, life
It means forever and that's a mighty long time
But I'm here to tell you
There's something else
The afterworld
A world of never ending happiness
You can always see the sun, day or night
